The Montessori way helps us see our children in a positive way, promoting respect, trust, love and peace
Welcome to our school! Welcome to a Montessori journey…
Dr Maria Montessori believes, when the child is placed in the centre of society, there will be a better world, full of joy and peace. The Montessori philosophy and method has been adopted worldwide. It not only respects the child, her interests and her inner growth as a whole person, but also places importance of the child developing as both an individual and as a member of the community.
‘The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind’
– Maria Montessori
Montessori trained teachers are particularly required to place the child at the centre of all things they do. They are a guiding influence rather than a leader. Offer inspiration rather than lessons. Answer a child’s needs by observing rather than imposing.
‘The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say “The children are now working as if I do not exist”‘
Dr Montessori believes her biggest contribution to education is the discovery of children’s sensitive periods (0-6 years). The sensitive periods are times when a child is best able to absorb knowledge. Following the child and their interests enables us to understand our children and recognise their inner needs and passion for learning, love and order, thus to bring out their greatness (not only the academic potential) naturally.
‘The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn’
– Maria Montessori
Maria Montessori observed children and developed learning materials for children to calmly and joyfully engage their hands and minds for self-education, self-discipline and self-construction.The Montessori way is freedom with limits. The environment is prepared in such a way that the child is free to explore their natural tendency to work and supportive by removing obstacles that will get in the way of their learning. The result will be happy, self motivated, independent learners.
‘To let the child to do as he likes when he has not yet developed any powers of control is to betray the idea of freedom.’
Our school will maintain an authentic Montessori method to serve your child and the community.
